I took a tour out into the Irish countryside. It was amazingly like home actually, lots of cows and the houses were all newer than England and single story, we could have been driving around the Waikato, except there were much more interesting things to visit than the dismantled Hobbiton. The first place was particularly like Hobbiton though, at the Four Knocks where we went inside a 5000 year old tomb only recently discovered which was perhaps the highlight of the whole trip. The tower at the next stop was also pretty interesting, the monks built them about 800 years ago to keep out the vikings with all the technical cunning of hot oil etc. Then the weather started to pack in a bit but didn't stop us enjoying the last couple of stops, first the place that St Paddy himself is said to have started Christianity in Ireland by lighting a large fire and converting the king, followed by the Hill of Tara where said kings were crowned.
