More Castles

The weather was marginally better for our last day. We thought we'd make the most of it and get out early so we wouldn't get stuck in return holiday traffic. So at 11am we were out of the cottage and on our way, a mere 2 hours later than we thought we probably should have been, but no matter, how bad could the traffic be? We would find out later in the day.
Our first stop was a partially restored castle in Caernarfon, rather unsurpisingly named as Caernarfon Castle. Big. So big in fact that we were able to run round inside the castle walls, walls so thick they had rooms inside them, in some places the stone was 15 ft thick. Pretty cool though, we spent lots of time climbing towers, I wouldn't be surprised if it turned out that most medievil deaths were caused by falling down stairs or off castle walls, even now some of the barriers on the tops of the walls are knee high.
As we continued our drive home along thenorth coast of Wales we stopped for lunch at Conwy, site of - you guessed it - another castle. Conwy castle in fact. We didn't go in this one but we did
stop for lunch on the side of the estury, it was a bit like Raglan where the path goes along the wate to the bridge (if you have been there and know what I'm talking about). There was a seafood store right by the water so I decided to try some British mussels. Turns out they have a different idea of mussels. It's like comparing Arnie to someone else whos not very mustley. NZ mussels being Arnie and while they tasted ok, the UK mussels were the someone else, only about 5 or 6cm at the most!
On the way home we spotted a wind farm on water which I thought was pretty cool and kept me entertained for a while until we hit the Holiday Traffic. This isn't too bad we thought as we irreversibly hopped onto the motorway. As we rounded th first bend we hit the queue of traffic all doing the same thing. It took us an hour to travel the next 2 miles, from there it eased up a bit but we still didn't make it home till late that night.
