Sangria and Siesta

Needless to say, we all slept in on Day 2 which was a Sunday and after finally getting up, marvelling at the view to price ratio of an apartment overlooking the marina (very cheap:very good compared to the 100s of suckers behind our enormous building) we headed into town. It turns out that the information centre was closed, clearly no one needs to use such facilities on a Sunday. So we went for a browse around town and and returned home for siesta. Ahhhh, siesta what a brilliant idea, a nationwide agreed mid afternoon nap time.
After siesta we went out to a local café serving sangria. With my very small amount of Spanish, we were able to order some Sangria (and if needed tell them something was on fire). Nothing caught on fire however all of a sudden early afternoon turned into late afternoon turned into early evening and all wee had done was move to another café, slightly closer to home. This new café was also serving sangria though it seemed like only we tourists were drinking it. It also had large legs (and by large I mean the entire leg, joint to hoof) of ham hanging behind the bar which reminded us we hadn’t had dinner, shortly after eating it appeared time had moved forward at an astonishing rate and it was 11pm.
This started a pattern that has continued throughout the holiday, slow, easy start to the day, activities, siesta, light dinner with Spanish wine, a game or two of buzz on the playstation, some 500 on the deck followed by general all round surprise at how fast the evenings disappear and the fact that is nearly midnight.
